Do You Have A Fake Instagram Account?
Do you have burner accounts:
A fake Twitter?
A fake Facebook?
A fake Insta?
Fake Instagam accounts have a name: “finstas.”
And while they are popular with teens, a new article on Mashable.com makes a case for having a finsta as an adult, too.
The writer says a finsta can tip-toe the line between social media and a diary; you can be as honest and indulgent as you want.
Finstas are usually locked, private accounts with just a few, highly selected followers.
Most people with finstas don’t use their real names, or appear in their profile picture, so it’s hard to know who runs the account.
Several celebrities have embraced the finsta-trend.
Bella Hadid ran a fake account using the name Rebekka during a recent trip to Japan.
Justin Bieber created an account to post as Skylark Tylark from the Coachella festival back in April.
Both Bieber and Bella quickly ditched the finstas after fans found out.
Demi Lovato fans have long speculated that she has a finsta, but she’s never admitted to one.
And Mad Men star Jon Hamm told people magazine that he has a finsta, but he’s successfully kept it under wraps.
