Wilson’s World: At Romare Bearden Park Preparing for the 2018 9/11 Flags of Remembrance Memorial
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – America promised to never forget the horrific attack on September 11, 2001 and again this year Charlotte is keeping that promise. As in previous years Wilson is joining volunteers who are placing flags in Romare Bearden Park in remembrance of those who died during the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11/01.
This morning volunteers with the F.F. Steven Coakley Foundation are placing American flags along with the name and a picture of each of the 2,977 people that had their lives taken when the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers were attacked by terrorists. For 12 years the F.F. Steven Coakley Foundation has marked this day in history with their Flags of Remembrance Memorial.
On Tuesday, September 11th a reflective memorial will begin at Romare Bearden Park at 8:30am and will have members of the FDNY in attendance. The memorial will consist of the tolling of a bell at prominent times of 8:46, 9:03, 9:37, 9:59, 10:03 & 10:28 and will include a replica of the Twin Towers to sign for sharing your thoughts. A steel beam from the WTC will be on display. Bring your family to visit and see this powerful tribute.
