COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina officials including Governor Henry McMaster say that roughly 441,000 people evacuated ahead of Hurricane Florence and over 65,000 power outages have been reported in the state.
Power restoration crews will not go out to fix outages until it is deemed safe for them to work.
General Livingston of the South Carolina National Guard said respondents are ready to support re-entry and respond to the needs of more isolated areas as the storm progresses. 750 search and rescue respondents are currently on standby.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division officials want to remind the public that officers will be out in force saying, “lawlessness will not be tolerated.”
