Tractor-Trailer Overturns On I-77 NB, Catches On Fire

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A tractor trailer overturned and caught fire on I-77 northbound early Thursday.

Officials say the truck overturned around 12:30 a.m. and caught fire from within. The highway was shut down for at least four hours but has since reopened.

The Huntersville Fire Department, Long Creek Fire Department, Charlotte Fire Department, Davidson Fire and Mt. Mourne Fire assisted in extinguishing the blaze. The I-77 Mobility Partners and Highway Patrol were also on scene.

Firefighters spent several hours putting out the fire, cleaning up debris and removing the truck.

No injuries were reported in this accident.
