Wilson’s World: Previewing this Saturday’s WFAE’s Amplifier Record Sale at Lunchbox Records

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was at Lunchbox Records this morning going through the stacks and stacks of vinyl and cds that public radio station WFAE will be selling this Saturday.  And with an over 30 year history in Charlotte, that is a archive collection of over 3,000 albums, 6,000 cds as well as broadcast equipment.

WFAE is a non-commercial news/talk public radio station in Charlotte that began as a music station playing jazz, blues and classical music.  Now they have decided to clear out all of that music that they have been archiving with the proceeds from the sale going back to WFAE to continue their non-commercial community programming.

WFAE is getting national attention with their podcasts and Amplifier is one of the best.  Amplifier, a nationally syndicated podcast which has been a top podcast on Apple,  is a music podcast where WFAE shines a light on the artists who call Charlotte home. Joni Deutsch, who joined Wilson at Lunchbox this morning, is the show’s host and producer.

Hope Nichols, a local Charlotte musician who is well known on the national music scene, joined Wilson and Joni to talk about WFAE and the Amplifier podcast.  Musician Vadim Kolpakov also stopped by to talk about the music he will be playing at the sale on Saturday.

But a sale of a great vinyl collection will not be the only thing going on Saturday.  There will also be musicians that are featured in WFAE’s Amplifier podcast performing.   Jason Jet and Emily Sage are just two of the musicians that will be performing.  Divine Barrel Brewing will be on site selling refreshments, including a new WFAE inspired saison and the Masa Casa truck will be on site with food & refreshments.

The sale kicks off this Saturday, November 10th  at noon and runs through 4pm at Lunchbox Records.  The vinyl and cds include not only jazz but also blues, classical, gospel, mainstream and soundtracks.
