Man Charged After Trying To Rob Four Businesses In 30 Minutes

The Latest:

Stephen Robbins, 39, is charged with three counts of attempted common law robbery and two counts of attempted larceny.

Police say the three counts of attempted common law robbery were for the incidents at Mi Barrio Halal Latin Grill, Super G Mart and CVS and the two counts of attempted larceny were for the incidents at Family Dollar and Queens Soul Food.

CMPD says detectives charged Robbins based on the elements of each incident.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is looking for the suspect they say may have robbed four east Charlotte businesses in 30 minutes.

The robberies all took place Friday evening between 6:14pm and 6:45pm. In each case, police say a suspect handed a note to the employees demanding money but never obtained any property.

The locations included the Family Dollar, Super G Mart and Queen Soul Food on Independence Boulevard, as well as the CVS on Village Lake Drive. At this time, investigators think the cases are all related.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
