Three Head Administrators At Carmel Middle School Are Suspended

CHARLOTTE, NC. —  Three head administrators at Carmel Middle School are suspended. A source tells WCCB the reason is mismanagement of a gun threat. The source says there was no actual gun. CMS will not confirm any details, citing personnel laws.

Principal Leduan Pratt, Assistant Principal Bethany Gullion and Dean of Students Patrick Dean are all on administrative leave.

Father of a Carmel Middle School seventh grader says he got an email today from the area superintendent. An email he says is too vague.

“It makes you wonder why? At the end of the day you’re going to tell me something that happened at my child’s school. I want to know more details,” say Roy Hatcher.

Other parents had similar concerns. The district will not give a reason for the suspension.

Only saying in part:

“The personnel review at Carmel MS does not involve improper behavior by CMS personnel towards any student and there is no criminal investigation of any CMS personnel related to this review.”

– Tara Lynn Sullivan, CMS Central 2 Learning Community Supt.

CMS officials say they’re working on finding an interim principal and assistant principal. In a statement, CMS says teaching and learning will continue without interruption.
