Thousands Enjoy Free Thanksgiving Meal From South Charlotte Restaurant

CHARLOTTE, NC — For the 12th year in a row, thousands of people in Charlotte ate a hot meal on Thanksgiving thanks to the generosity of a south Charlotte restaurant.

Skyland Restaurant on South Boulevard serves a free Thanksgiving meal every year. They welcome the homeless and out-of-towners to feast on turkey and all the fixings.

“It helps me because Thanksgiving is a bad day for me. My father passed away on Thanksgiving Day,” said Rick Canipe. “It’s not about the food, it’s about caring.”

Skyland Restaurant gives away about 3,000 boxes of turkey dinners every year.
