CMPD: Shooting Death Of Teen At South Charlotte Motel 6 Ruled Accidental

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators announced Tuesday that the death of 17-year-old Daquayaon Brown in south Charlotte has been ruled accidental. Brown died at a local hospital after he was reportedly shot just after midnight on Wednesday, October 10th in the parking lot of a Motel 6.

Detectives, along with information from the Medical Examiner’s Office, say the manner of Brown’s death was accidental and no charges will be filed.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say Brown took himself to the Presbyterian Hospital after witnesses told them he was shot at the Motel 6 on S. Tryon St. Police circulated the area and eventually located the crime scene in the parking lot of the motel.

Brown was pronounced dead a short time after his arrival.
