Gaston County Pastor Charged With Multiple Sex Offenses

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gaston County pastor has been charged with multiple sex offenses involving children.

Jerry Lewis Friday, 61, is charged with 1-count of felony Statutory Sex Offense, 4-counts of felony Indecent Liberties with a Child, 1-count of felony Disseminating Obscene Material to a Minor, and 2-counts of misdemeanor Sexual Battery.

Friday is the pastor at New Providence Baptist Church, 1104 Old NC 27 Hwy, Mt Holly, NC.  He was arrested at his residence in the 400 block of N Myrtle School Road in Gastonia.

The Gaston County Police Department says multiple juvenile victims were identified during the course of the investigation and that the incidents took place on church property and at private residences.

Friday is being held without bond ant the Gaston County Jail.
