Travel Congestion To Pick Up As People Head Home After Christmas
CHARLOTTE, NC. — Holiday travel is back in full swing on Wednesday. Traffic congestion is expected to pick up this week as travelers head home after Christmas. AAA says more people are traveling than ever before. It predicts one-third of Americans are traveling this season, whether it’s on a plane, train or in a car.
Many travelers arrived to a calm Charlotte-Douglas Airport on Christmas day. Wednesday will be a much different story. AAA says that’s when most holiday air travelers will return home. It’s expected to be one of the busiest days in the skies and at the airport.
About 4.25 million Carolinians to travel by car to their destinations, according to AAA. The falling gas prices don’t hurt either. According to gas buddy, the cheapest gas in Charlotte is $1.96.
North Carolina Highway Patrol says give yourself plenty of time, and make sure you have gas and good tires.
