Suspect In Deadly September Ballantyne Shooting Turns Himself In

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged Marquis Smith with the murder of Jermaine Stuckey.

Smith turned himself in at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on January 4th, according to a news release.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are still searching for the suspect accused of shooting and killing a man outside of a south Charlotte lounge in September.

According to CMPD, 29-year-old Marquis Smith is wanted for the First Degree Murder of Jermaine Stuckey.

Around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 14000 block of Conlan Circle, in the Ballantyne area.

Arriving officers found Stuckey, 44, suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot near the Blue Olive Lounge.  Medic pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say Smith should be considered armed and dangerous.
