CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver fell asleep and hit a utility pole in South Charlotte early Thursday, police say.
The crash happened on Park Road before Fairview and Tyvola Roads.
Police say the driver’s car hit a pole and flipped over, which knocked out power for 70 homes.
The driver was said to have been fatigued at the time of the crash and has been transported to Atrium Main with serious injuries.
The right lane on Park Road is currently blocked. Expect delays as the lane could be closed for a couple of hours.
The wreck has cleared, but utility crews are on scene doing repairs and working to restore power.
Drivers are asked to use South Boulevard as an alternate route.
