Gillette Sparks Controversy With New ‘The Best Men Can Be’ Campaign

CHARLOTTE, NC — Gillette recently launched a new campaign called ‘The Best Men Can Be,’ and it’s being met with some pretty mixed reviews.

The campaign rolled out in full force Monday with a nearly two minute long video posted to Gillette’s social media accounts, which focuses on issues like bullying, sexual harassment, the #MeToo movement and “toxic masculinity.”

Some are praising the ad as a positive step forward, while others say it is insulting to the male population as a whole. Critics of the ad have even threatened to boycott the well known razor company despite being loyal customers for decades.

This isn’t Procter & Gamble’s first dive into the world of progressive advertising. The company was also behind the Always “Like a Girl” campaign and Pantene’s “Strong is Beautiful” campaign, which both received praise following their debut.

Nearly three decades after launching its famous ‘The Best a Man Can Get’ slogan, the company says it’s time for a change.
