Miracle Babies–Twins Born Conjoined At The Head Thriving After Surgery

MOORESVILLE, NC. —  Identical twins continue to thrive against all odds. They were born conjoined at the head, and the youngest ever known to be successfully separated.

Two-year-old Abby and Erin Delaney prove that anything is possible. They were born conjoined at the head, a condition extremely rare. Only happening about six times in 10 million births.

Parents Riley and Heather knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

“Even though we had some uphill battles to fight we were more than willing to just because they’re our kids and we love them,” says Heather Delaney.

They knew the twins had to go through the risky separation surgery.

“The quality of life isn’t there and we had to give them the opportunity to fight for that,” explains Riley Delaney.

After an 11-hour separation surgery at just 10 months old, it was a success.

“They don’t have to just be the conjoined twins, they can be Abby and Erin. Who knows what they’re going to grow up to do. I have a feeling it’s going to be some big things,” says Heather.

A year and a half after the surgery, they’re crawling, babbling and progressing everyday.
