Unsettled Tuesday, Cold And Dry For The Remainder Of The Week

Rain will overspread the area from west to east Tuesday with the best chance for rain in Charlotte from late morning through the afternoon. Mountain communities can expect 1-3 inches of snow with isolated higher amounts on the peaks. Although there may be a brief period of snow as the precipitation comes to an end in the lower elevations, no accumulation or travel issues are expected. Highs will reach the low 50s before temperatures tumble late in the day. Skies will clear Tuesday night with very cold temperatures overspreading the region. Lows will be in the teens and low 20s with gusty winds making it feel even colder. Wind chill values will drop below zero in mountain communities. Clear skies are expected Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures only warming into the upper 30s and low 40s. Slightly warmer temperatures will return Friday into the weekend with mostly dry conditions lingering through Saturday.
