Man Charged With Breaking Into Nine Vehicles In Steele Creek

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested a man for breaking into numerous cars in the Steele Creek area.

On January 31st, 2019, at about 5:15 a.m., CMPD officers responded to reports of someone breaking into vehicles on Cartgate Lane in southwest Charlotte.

Officers located a man who matched the description provided by a witness in the 12200 block of Cartgate Lane.  Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Genis Pegues and found several items stolen from the vehicles that had been broken into in Pegues’ possession.

Genis Pegues was charged with nine counts of Breaking into a Motor Vehicle and two counts of misdemeanor Larceny.
