EXCLUSIVE: Husband Of Security Guard Ambushed, Shot And Robbed Is Speaking Out
CHARLOTTE, NC. — A week after a security guard was ambushed, shot and robbed while on the job, her husband is speaking out. CMPD says there’s still no arrests. They’re looking for two suspects.
Jonathan and Holly Wright’s 25 year marriage is filled with happy memories. A week ago, Jonathan thought their lifetime together would be cut short.
Holly has been working as a mobile patrol security guard for Strategic Security for four years. Around six in the morning on January 25th, she was on patrol and stopped in the Hidden Valley neighborhood to pick up a co-worker. She was ambushed off Spring Garden Lane.
“Two gentlemen approached the car where she parked to pick up her coworker, and pointed a shotgun at her,” says Holly’s husband Jonathan Wright.
Jonathan says the suspects took her phone and her gun. Then shot her at point-blank range.
“It caught her right here in the neck and then right in the shoulder.”
A police report says the suspects fled the scene. Holly called 911 herself and was taken to the hospital. Jonathan rushed there not long after.
“She’s a strong person; when I got there after being shot she was there cutting jokes and cracking up.”
Seven days and four surgeries later, Jonathan says she’s doing great. She’s expected to be released from the hospital Saturday.
