Two Charged With Breaking Into Dilworth Area Homes

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged two suspects with breaking into several homes in the Dilworth neighborhood.

The initial break-ins happened early Monday morning at two homes on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Berkley Avenue. While responding, officers reportedly learned that one of the suspects was on Electronic Monitoring and had been located at a third home nearby on Isleworth Avenue.

When K9 Units arrived at that address, police say one of the suspects climbed over a backyard fence and escaped on foot. The other suspect was found coming out of the home and taken into custody.

He was identified as 22-year-old Robert Curd.

Police say the fleeing suspect was soon arrested near the entrance of Latta Park and identified as 18-year-old Jameil Massey.

Curb and Massey are each charged with three counts of Breaking and Entering, three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Breaking and Entering, and Felony Larceny after B&E.
