Wilson’s World: Kicking Off the 2019 Second Harvest Food Bank Carolinas Student Hunger Drive
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was at Second Harvest Food Bank this morning with students from schools in Mecklenberg and Cabarrus counties as they kicked off their annual Carolinas Student Hunger Drive to support Second Harvest.
Jenner Wall, SHFMB Student Hunger Drive Director, talked with Wilson about the event that begins today and runs for six weeks. The students of the 9 schools that are participating will be collecting canned and dry goods as well as funds to purchase more food for Second Harvest. Every dollar raised is equal to 7 pounds of food.
Pat Eyer with Food Lion also joined Wilson to talk about the importance of the drive. Food Lion will be donating $20,000 to the drive and each school will be getting a $100 gift card to get their campaigns underway.
Wilson also took the opportunity to present a new Wilson’s Moment of Good Award to Jenner to help kick off the Carolinas Student Hunger Drive. Special thanks to our sponsor One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.
