Rock Hill Murder Suspect Extradited To York County After Arrest In Charlotte
The Latest:
Marques Heath is back in York County custody after being arrested in Charlotte Tuesday afternoon following a Rock Hill shooting that injured three and left one dead.
Heath was arrested by CMPD and held at the Mecklenburg County Jail while he awaited extradition.
According to the York County Detention Center’s website, Heath was booked into custody around 6:23pm Wednesday.
He is currently charged with Murder. Additional charges are pending.
Update (Feb. 13, 2019):
Authorities say three people were assaulted with a hammer by the suspect charged with Tuesday’s quadruple shooting in York County, which left one woman dead.
The York County coroner says 20-year-old Shanijela Shamichael Williams was killed in the shooting.
The York County Sheriff’s Office also identified Bethany Farrar, Herman Leach, and Laquata Wilson as the other shooting victims.
Ms. Farrar was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where she is in stable condition. Ms. Wilson was taken to Presbyterian Medical Center and then Carolinas Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.
Authorities say Mr. Leach was assaulted with a hammer in addition to being shot. He was treated at Presbyterian Medical Center.
Shane Shillinglaw and Sheila Rushing were also assaulted with a hammer. They were both treated at Presbyterian Medical Center.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The suspect accused of shooting three women, killing one of them in two separate shootings Tuesday morning in York County has been arrested in Charlotte.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Marques Quantez Heath was arrested by CMPD after a brief chase on South Boulevard at Old Pineville Road.
The first shooting happened just before 11am on Leach Road. Deputies say they located two women who had been shot. One of the victims died from the injuries she sustained in the shooting. The other victim was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.
According to a report from the York County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to that same address on January 18th for a domestic violence incident. The report says a white female was assaulted by Heath, and a black female was also listed as a witness.
Heath was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault and Battery.
After the shooting on Leach Road, deputies believe the suspect then went to Farlow Street and shot another woman. She was also taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment but there is no word on her condition.
