Teacher Finds Human Remains Of Missing Charlotte Man Behind Elementary School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say the human remains of a missing Charlotte man were found by an elementary school teacher in northeast Charlotte.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to Croft Community Elementary School on Hucks Road after a teacher reportedly found human remains while retrieving a ball that had gone over a fence while students were playing outside.

While CMPD is awaiting positive identification from the Medical Examiner’s Office, the remains appear to be Sam Davis, who was reported missing in that area on July 3, 2018, according to a news release.  Detectives found no visible signs of trauma and are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
