More Rain Tuesday Night And Wednesday, Wintry Mix In The Mountains

Tuesday will be noticeably colder with highs struggling into the 40s under cloudy skies. Showers and drizzle will develop late in the day and gradually pick up in intensity Tuesday night into Wednesday. Wednesday will be cold and damp with periods of rain and highs only reaching the low 40s. The foothills and mountains will experience a wintry mix Tuesday night into Wednesday morning before the mix transitions to just rain. Although a slushy inch or two of snow/sleet is possible, we are not expecting significant snow accumulations. A bigger concern will be freezing rain, slick spots are possible through Wednesday morning until temperatures warm above freezing. Thursday and Friday will remain unsettled with on and off periods of rain, no day appears to be a total washout. Rain totals in Charlotte will likely range from 1-2 inches by the end of the week, 2-4 inches in the mountains. The biggest concern for localized flooding will be in the foothills and mountains where the heaviest precipitation will fall.
