Contractor Rescued Out Of 40-Foot Shaft Near Ballantyne

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rescue crews just pulled a contractor out of a 40 foot shaft near Ballantyne.

The incident happened around 11am at the Clems Branch Pump Station Project near the North Carolina and South Carolina border.

Officials say the contractor was in the shaft working when debris fell on his leg.Β  Rescue crews were called in to get the contractor out of the shaft.Β  It took them approximately 45 minutes to rescue him.

The contractor was taken to a local hospital for treatment.Β  There is no word on the extent of his injuries. Officials say he was doing contract work for Charlotte Water.
