Man Wanted For Shooting, Kidnapping In Catawba County Turns Himself In
A man wanted for a shooting and kidnapping in Catawba County has turned himself in.
Derek Andrew Moser, 27, turned himself in to authorities Friday night, according to reports. Moser is charged with for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, 2nd Degree Kidnapping and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
The kidnapping victim, 22-year-old Alexa Marie Cruz, is said to be safe and cooperating with authorities.
The shooting victim, 29-year-old Armando Jimenez, was treated and released on Friday.

NEWTON, NC — Catawba County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man they say shot a person and then kidnapped a woman Friday afternoon.
According to deputies, Derek Moser shot someone inside a home on Pinebark Court during a dispute. Moser then left the residence, officials say, kidnapping Alex Marie Cruz in the process.
Moser and Cruz are known to each other, according to officials, but the relationship between Cruz, Moser and the shooting victim has not been released.
Investigators say Moser is believed to be driving a white 2006 Buick Rendezvous with North Carolina tag number EKX-1904.
He is wanted for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, 2nd Degree Kidnapping and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Moser is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says they are not releasing the shooting victim’s name at this time “due to the nature of the incident.”
