Family Desperate To Find Out Why Someone Shot Their Dog
MAIDEN, NC. — A family in Maiden is desperate to find out why somebody shot their dog in the face. The dog is recovering after two surgeries to remove the bullet.
You rarely see Roscoe not wagging his tail. The Rottweiler Pit mix is always trying to give kisses, especially to his owners. The Cudd family has had Roscoe for about a year and a half.
They let Roscoe outside their home on Abernathy Williams Road in Maiden around 10:30 am on March 3rd. He was only outside for about ten minutes.
“Whenever we opened the door to let him in, all we saw was blood,” says owner Jessica Cudd.
Blood was all over Roscoe’s face and their front porch. They rushed him to the vet.
Jessica says the bullet broke into three pieces. He’s had two surgeries to remove a fragment that went behind his ear and another that went behind his eye socket. The third piece is still logged in his nose.
The Cudd’s called the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. They have no idea who did this to Roscoe. They didn’t see anyone near their house.
“That bugs me. You know, we didn’t hear anything, but we live in the country so gunshots are normal.”
The Cudd’s have two kids, and worry they could have been hurt.
The Cudd’s say the the sheriff’s office took a report over the phone, but no one has gotten back to them. WCCB called several times Monday to ask about this case, and did not get a response.
The family started at Go Fund Me for Roscoe’s surgeries.
