ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Kannapolis man is being held on a $1.25 million bond on charges that he sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl over the course of several months.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, on March 9th, 2019, deputies responded to a call in the 8400 block of Danfield Drive in Kannapolis. While en route to the scene, deputies were informed that the 911 caller had changed locations to an address on Pinewood Drive in Kannapolis.
At the Pinewood Drive address, a deputy met with the seven-year-old sexual assault victim and her mother. The mother explained to the deputy that she walked in on 47-year-old Homer Compton Jr. molesting her seven-year-old daughter.
The mother stated she left the Danfield Drive address because Compton, who was known to the mother and the victim, became upset and grabbed a rifle before making suicidal threats.
Deputies and Rowan County Sheriff’s detectives responded to the Danfield Drive residence, with warrants, to conduct a further investigation and arrest Homer Compton.
Compton initially refused to come out of the home but after about 20 minutes of negotiation with the Special Response Unit, he agreed to exit the residence unarmed and was arrested.
Based on an interview with Compton and evidence collected from the Danfield Drive residence, detectives believe Compton had been sexually involved with the seven-year-old victim for several months.
Homer Compton Jr. is charged with six counts of Statutory Rape, two counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child by an Adult, and four counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
