Wilson’s World: The Relatives Youth Crisis Center Celebrates 45 Years

The Relatives Celebrates National Safe Place Week on Saturday, March 23rd with their annual Roberts Walk and Community Celebration

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Again this year, as part of National Safe Place Week,  The Relatives’ Youth Crisis Center will be celebrating  with  Robert’s Walk and Community Celebration.  This year’s celebration will be special as it marks 45 years of  The Relatives helping the youth in the Charlotte area.  Wilson at The Relatives center this morning talking about their 45 years of service to the community.

The mission of The Relatives Youth Crisis Center is to keep kids safe, families together, and prepare  youth and young adults to be healthy, productive, engaged members of the community.

Safe Place provides access to immediate help and supportive resources for youth in need. As a community initiative, the program designates schools, fire stations, libraries, and other youth-friendly organizations as Safe Place locations, which display the yellow and black sign.

Safe Place locations extend the doors of the local youth service agency or shelter to support teens in crisis situations, creating a safety net for youth.  More information on Safe Place can be found at nationalsafeplace.org.

The Robert’s Walk event will be held on March 23rd and feature a walk from Freedom Park, up through East Boulevard, to the Youth Crisis Center in honor of those who have “taken the journey from crisis to safety, stability, and successful futures.”  A community celebration will be held at the center following the walk.
