Police Search For Dilworth Attacker
CHARLOTTE, NC — People are on watch in Dilworth Friday after a woman says someone sexually assaulted her on East Boulevard around 7:30 in the morning.
It’s a street bustling with rush hour traffic and parents dropping kids off at Dilworth Elementary School.
“To hear something like that you, you’re like what? Why and who? It make you be on alert, I guess,” said Jonathan Adams.
People coming and going from businesses and homes tell WCCB Charlotte police were using dogs to search for the attacker.
“I do workout in this area too sometimes. So, I just always make sure I do during the daylight time. But that was the morning, too. So,” said Sara Smith.
CMPD has not released the exact address of the sexual battery or what the woman says the suspect did.
This is the fifth assault within half a mile from Latta Park in one month, according to police records.
Wednesday, officers arrested two people accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the light rail on Bland St.
“All I can tell you is, wherever you go you, got to watch your back. No matter if it’s an up and coming area or it’s an established area. You just got to watch your back,” said Adams. “No matter what time of day or where you are.”
