Authorities Recover Several Firearms Stolen From Catawba County Residences

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have recovered stolen firearms from several residences in Catawba County and say charges are pending on the accused suspect.

On March 12, 2019 at about 12:51 p.m., Catawba County Communications received a call regarding a residential breaking and entering in the 6700 block of West North Carolina Highway 10 in Vale, in which the caller was able to give a description of the suspect vehicle.

At about 8:58 p.m. on the same day, Catawba County Communications received a call in reference to someone trespassing at 3144 Old Shelby Road in Vale.

Deputies approached the subject and noticed his vehicle matched the description from the breaking and entering call on Highway 10 earlier in the day.

The suspect admitted to breaking into several homes and having stolen firearms in the vehicle.  Deputies recovered the firearms and other stolen property taken from Catawba County Residences.

Officials say investigators have worked to return the property to the rightful owners.

Sheriff Brown commented: “I am extremely proud of my deputies who work so hard to make Catawba County a safer place to live. Through their vigilance and skill, we were able to recover a lot of stolen property and return it to its owners, as well as solving several breaking and entering cases of residences. I am thankful for our Deputies and the work they do.”

The case is still under investigation.
