Wilson’s World: Hanging with the Science Club at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was getting a science lesson this morning from the kids in the Science Club at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School.

Wilson met the Huntingtowne students and their science teacher, Ms. Bullard, who was dressed in her best chicken suit during science class this morning.  No, it wasn’t a costume contest, but an opportunity to teach the students about eco-systems, which includes hatching and raising baby chicks before they go back to the farm.

But after school the students get additional science education with their Science Club. Ms. Bullard, the students and parents of some of the kids talked with Wilson about how important the Science Club has been to the students and things they have learned.

Wilson also presented his latest ‘Moment of Good Award’ to Ms. Bullard for all of her hard work with the students and the Science Club.  She works with her students in the Science Club after school twice a week and prepares them for science competitions during the school year.  The parents and teachers that work with Ms. Bullard nominated her to receive Wilson’s latest Moment of Good Award for all of the personal time, hard work, and dedication that she has put into the science club.

Ms. Bullard has also been nominated for the North Carolina School Hero Award.  If she is chosen, she will win $10,000 for herself and an additional $10,000 for the school.  People can vote everyday on every device now through March 31! Voting is simple – visit ncschoolheroes.com, type in Nancy Bullard, and hit VOTE!
