Over 500 Grams Of Meth Seized In The Parking Lot Of A Stanly County Liquor Store

ALBEMARLE, NC — Authorities have charged two suspects with trafficking methamphetamine after more than 500 grams were seized in a liquor store parking lot on Thursday.

Detectives with the Stanly County Drug Taskforce say 532.2 grams of Methamphetamine and nearly $1,300 in cash were confiscated in an ABC Store parking lot in Albemarle. The meth has a reported street value of $50,000.

Rakeem Baldwin, 21, of Mount Gilead, and Taryn Rushing, 18, of Albemarle, are facing multiple charges in connection to the bust.

Both suspects are charged with Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling as a Place to Sell Controlled Substance, two counts of Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine, and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine.

Baldwin is additionally charged with Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer.

They have each been placed under a $250,000 bond.
