Wilson’s World: SAVE Promise Club Summit In Concord

CONCORD, N.C. — Wilson was at Harold E. Winkler Middle School in Concord, where S.A.V.E. Promise Clubs are holding their annual summit.

Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) was formed in 1989 after a West Charlotte High School student, Alex Orange, was killed by gun violence at a party.  In 2017 SAVE and Sandy Hook Promise combined their efforts to increase awareness and prevent gun violence before it happens.

Today their are thousands of SAVE Promise Clubs across the country, working to educate young people about gun violence.

H.E. Winkler Principal, Michael Williams, says, “As a founding SAVE Club member, I am both thrilled and honored to host the 2019 SAVE Summit at H.E. Winkler Middle School on April 13. I can think of no better place for this 30th-anniversary gathering than right here in North Carolina, where it all began. I am eager to welcome all 1,000+ SAVE Promise Clubs nationwide and share ideas for further advancing a student culture based on inclusion and compassion.”
