On Tuesday, Cheyenne Kenniston pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and was sentenced in the death of a 17-year-old Hickory girl.
Kenniston was initially charged with second degree murder in the July, 2018, death of Katlyn Wittcop.
Prosecutors said the shooting was accidental and Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge George Bell signed off on the plea, in which Kenniston will serve 120 days in prison, and receive credit for the 72 days she has already served.

Hickory Police have arrested Cheyenne Kenniston in connection to the deadly July shooting of 17-year-old Katlyn Wittcop.
Kenniston, 20, was arrested Tuesday after being served an indictment for Second Degree Murder. She is currently being held under a $100,000 bond.

HICKORY, N.C. — Police say they are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl in Hickory.
Officers were called to 13th Avenue NE in reference to a possible shooting around 11pm on July 28th. Upon arrival, officers found Katyln Wittcop unresponsive. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
During the incident, police say a known subject discharged a firearm striking the victim resulting in her death. Multiple people were reportedly present during the time of the shooting and are being interviewed.
