HICKORY, N.C. — Hickory Public Schools has announced that May 1st will be an optional teacher workday.
The school system says due to the number of teachers participating in the education rally in Raleigh, Hickory Public Schools will be closed to students.
Hickory Public Schools joins many other area school systems that have opted to close school on May 1st. Iredell County Schools says they will remain open, so as not to disrupt students and families.
