Local Foundation Hosts Family-Friendly Carnival

MATTHEWS, N.C. – A heartwarming show of support in Matthews: a carnival in honor of Charlie Holt. You may remember Charlie died suddenly at the age of five, nearly two years ago. His family has opened up to WCCB Charlotte about their loss, and the work now being done in Charlie’s name.

Saturday, that work continued, as money was raised for the Charlie’s Heart Foundation. Families paid to take part in Charlie’s Carnival at Matthews’ Stumptown Park, and that money goes to help families in third world countries.

“While the Holt family can’t be together anymore, because Charlie’s not with us on Earth, we’re trying to help other families stay together, and bring them prosperity through healthcare, education, and access to clean water,” explains Mariryan Starr of Charlie’s Heart Foundation.

Last year, the event raised enough money to dig a well in Ethiopia, which provides clean water to hundreds of families.
