Chester County School District Closing May 1st For Teacher Rally

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (News Release) —Β On May 1, teachers from across the state of South Carolina will rally at the South Carolina Statehouse in support of the call to action for educators across the state to make their voices heard for education reform in South Carolina.

Because many teachers have asked for this day as a personal day of leave, the Superintendent of Schools and the School Board is allowing them to take this day to advocate for public education and for their students.

Due to this, schools will be canceled for all students and staff on May 1, 2019. A make up the day will be held at the end of the year. Details of the make up day will be published as soon as those plans are finalized and approved by the Board of Trustees.

The school system wanted to notify the students, parents, staff and general public of this change in the calendar in plenty of time to make arrangements for the May 1, 2019 closing of school.
