KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Kannapolis woman has been charged after authorities say she struck and killed a man and his two dogs with her vehicle Monday morning.
Police say 48-year-old Santiago Esteban was walking his dogs near the intersection of Bethpage Road and Leonard Avenue, when Lisa Michelle Jones, 22, hit and killed Mr. Esteban and his dogs at about 1:41 a.m. on Monday.
Witnesses reported seeing a red sedan leaving the scene following the accident and information gathered during the investigation led investigators Ms. Jones’ residence where she was taken into custody without incident.
Jones has been charged with Felony Hit and Run, Misdemeanor Hit and Run and Driving Left of Center.
The case is still under investigation and more information will be released as it develops.
