Suspects Charged Following Homicide Outside South Charlotte Restaurant

The CMPD has arrested two men wanted in connection with the Monday, April 29th murder of 41-year-old Domingo Venancio-Tapia outside of a South Charlotte Restaurant.
The CMPD says 18-year-old Juan Deras Escalante was taken into custody after an eight-hour standoff with law enforcement at a southwest Charlotte residence on Tuesday, April 30th.
Escalante has been charged with Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, and 4 counts of Shooting into Occupied Property.
The other suspect, 17-year-old Gerardo Lagunes, was located and apprehended without incident earlier Tuesday. He is also charged with Murder.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed outside a south Charlotte restaurant Monday night.
At about 10:54 p.m. on Monday night, CMPD officers responded to a call at Restaurante Lempira on South Boulevard near Archdale Drive.
Arriving officers located 41-year-old Domingo Venancio-Tapia suffering from a gunshot wound directly in front of the restaurant. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene. Police say Venancio-Tapia had been inside the restaurant and was shot shortly after exiting.
