Lincoln County Deputies Seize $6.4 Million Worth Of Cocaine During Traffic Stop

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says they seized the largest amount of cocaine ever seized in the county during a traffic stop Wednesday.

Deputies say they stopped the vehicle on Gastonia Highway after witnessing several traffic violations and suspicious activity. After speaking to the driver, 48-year-old Jason Williams of Goldsboro, deputies say a drug dog was used to conduct an “open air sniff” around the vehicle.

The K-9, Anya, then alerted deputies to the presence of drugs.

An estimated $6.4 million dollars worth of cocaine, weighing 117 pounds, was reportedly found during the search. The LCSO says it is the largest ever drug bust in Lincoln County.

Williams has been charged with felony trafficking in cocaine by possession, by transport and maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for a controlled substance. He has been placed under a $2 million bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
