CMPD: 18 Possible Suspects Identified In Monday’s Fight At Vance High School

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says 18 potential suspects have been identified after a large fight at a north Charlotte high school caused the campus to go on a brief lockdown Monday afternoon.

CMPD says they were called to assist the School Resource Officer in reference to a large fight that broke out at Vance High School. The school was placed on a brief lockdown, according to officials.

A video sent to WCCB shows the fight. Warning, the video contains strong language and violence. Viewer discretion is advised. 

SROs have reviewed evidence surrounding the fight, police say, and identified 18 possible suspects. Police say they are working to determine appropriate charges for each suspect.

Vance High School’s principal sent the following message to parents following the incident:

“This is Principal Carroll with an important message. Our school was on lockdown this afternoon due to an incident on campus. Law enforcement investigated the incident. Any student violating the Code of Student Conduct will be disciplined according to the code. Thank you for your support of Vance High.”

Police have not said what caused the fight. No injuries were reported and police say no weapons were located.
