Union County Man Faces Over 50 Charges Related To Mail Theft

MONROE, NC — A Union County man faces more than 50 charges related mail theft cases reported throughout the county.

Detectives say they recovered a stolen 2011 Infiniti sedan and a large amount of stolen mail at Cody Walden’s home on Hargette Road following his arrest.

The mail reportedly included various tax documents, bank statements and other financial records. Handwritten notes listing social security numbers and bank information were also recovered, according to detectives.

Officials say the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Walmart parking lot in Indian Trail.

Walden was identified as a suspect after a woman reported a mail theft early Wednesday morning. The victim reportedly took video of Walden removing items from her mailbox while driving a dark colored vehicle.

He faces multiple charges, including Motor Vehicle Theft, two counts of Larceny of Chose in Action, multiple counts of Identity Theft, two counts of Financial Card Theft and forty counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Officials say he also faces two additional counts of Probation Violation.
