Honeywell Chooses Uptown Charlotte’s Legacy Union For Corporate Headquarters

Company has signed long-term, build-to-suit lease with Lincoln Harris for new 23-story office tower at 700 S. Mint Street

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) — Honeywell today announced it has signed a long-term lease agreement with Lincoln Harris, which will build a 23-story office building in Charlotte’s Legacy Union that will serve as Honeywell’s corporate headquarters. Groundbreaking on the building is scheduled for September, with estimated completion in 2021.

Honeywell will be the primary tenant in the building and will occupy approximately 280,000 square feet across nine floors. By the end of 2024, the building will house approximately 750 Honeywell employees.

“We have picked the perfect Charlotte location for Honeywell’s new headquarters,” said Darius Adamczyk, chairman and chief executive officer of Honeywell. “Legacy Union will offer our employees world-class amenities in a state-of-the-art building in dynamic Uptown Charlotte, enabling us to recruit and retain the top talent we will need to support our strategic objectives.”

The new building will be directly across Mint Street from Bank of America Stadium and will feature ground-floor retail, approximately 800 parking spaces and a rooftop terrace. The building will be outfitted with the latest Honeywell Building Technologies products, which are found in more than 10 million buildings worldwide and help ensure facilities are safe, energy efficient, sustainable and productive. Legacy Union, which is being developed by Lincoln Harris, is a 10-acre, mixed-use development between Tryon Street and Bank of America Stadium that is home to a mix of Class A office space, retail and other development, and a large public plaza.

“Lincoln Harris is excited Honeywell has chosen Charlotte as its new home and selected Legacy Union for its corporate headquarters,” said Johno Harris, president of Lincoln Harris. “The addition of Honeywell, a Fortune 100 technology company, is strong evidence that the city of Charlotte and surrounding region offers a diverse business climate fueling continued growth and opportunity.”

In late 2018, Honeywell announced that Charlotte would become its new corporate headquarters and headquarters for its Safety and Productivity Solutions segment. As part of the move, about 250 positions will relocate to Charlotte by September 2019, and an additional 500 positions will be added to the Charlotte location over the next five years.
