Wilson’s World: Celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of Roots Cafe in South End
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was last at Roots Cafe in April where he was previewing the Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter gala that was held in May. He was back this morning where he is helping Roots celebrate their 2nd anniversary. Although the cafe has been open for 2 years, their Roots Catering has been in business for over 7-1/2 years.
Located at 2135 Southend Blvd Roots was the brainchild of owner Craig Barbour and his wife after doing some cafe reconnaissance in New York City. The cafe uses locally sourced ingredients for their freshly prepared menu items.
Wilson took the opportunity to do a little taste testing of some of Roots special items that will be on the menu this weekend including a decadent stuffed french toast. Big specials this week include their “throwback Thursday” special where they will be doing one of their popular items from their food truck days,a pork belly taco with barbecue sauce, Friday beer lovers can enjoy 1/2 price beer all day long and Saturday and Sunday will include 2 great brunch specials.
Roots will also be giving away a free coffee subscription for the rest of the year. Visit Roots and find the sticker of Wilson and get entered into a drawing for the free coffee subscription.
