York County Man Charged In Possible Dog Fighting Investigation

YORK COUNTY, SC — The York County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing multiple charges after deputies seized 42 pit bulls on Thursday and discovered evidence of possible dog fighting.

Anthonio Orr, 49, has been served with 75 warrants, deputies say, charging him with Animal Fighting or Baiting Act Penalty, Ill Treatment of Animals, Violation of County Ordinance, Trafficking Ice Crack Cocaine, Weapons Violations and other drug violations.

The dogs were reportedly found while YCSO Code Enforcement Deputies were investigating an ongoing ordinance violation issue involving York County animal restraining requirements.

Deputies say the dogs were found chained to cars axles, which were buried in the ground at a property on McConnells Highway. Evidence of dog fighting was also found, according to officials.

After the discovery, officials say search warrants were obtained, which allowed deputies to seize the dogs.

This is an ongoing investigation.
