Wilson’s World: Learning More About Fiber Art with Artist Amy Reader
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was visiting the studio of fiber artist Amy Reader to find out more about her art work and how she is bringing recycled materials back to life. Amy put Wilson to work helping her prepare material for her next art piece…unfortunately, he isn’t quite adept at cutting a straight line as she is.
Amy began creating with fibers and material when she began making clothes for her stuffed animals when she was 6. She creates fiber art on both small and large scales. In the summer of 2016 she traveled to Peru to build a site specific sculpture and has created both small and large scale design installations for companies. But her talent is not only used for large pieces but also for smaller more personal items as well. She imagines and brings to life beautiful home decor and a collection of handcrafted jewelry pieces.
Amy’s work will be on display at Blue Blaze Brewing 528 South Turner Street in Charlotte from July 21st until September 7th. There will also be a closing reception from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on September 7th. Find out more about Amy and her work as well as purchase her handcrafted jewelry at her website amyreaderartist.com.
