CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says a man has been charged in connection to an armed sexual assault that took place early Friday morning.
Jordan Bryson-Antonio Douglas, 21, was arrested after trying to run from officers shortly after 4:00 a.m. in Uptown.
Police say two women were walking near a construction area on W. 6th Street near Elmwood Cemetery when Douglas approached them armed with a gun. The suspect reportedly threatened the victims and sexually assaulted one of them.
Douglas then robbed the women of their belongings, police say, and took off while firing a shot. Neither victim was hit by the gunshot.
Police say Douglas was quickly apprehended and transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during a struggle with one of the victims. The gun was also recovered by officers.
Upon his release, he was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree sex offense, two counts of first degree kidnapping, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The sexual assault victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
