Rowan County Man Arrested On Drug And Robbery Charges

SALISBURY, NC — A man accused of robbing a game room early Monday morning is now facing additional drug related charges.

Rowan County deputies say they found a handgun, marijuana packaged for sale and a large sum of money inside of Michael Pemberton’s home on Rowan Mill Road. The items were reportedly found after detectives executed search warrants in connection to an early morning armed robbery investigation.

The initial incident happened at the VIP Game Lounge on South Main Street around 4:15am. Deputies say a suspect, later identified as Pemberton, 34, was playing video games inside the business when he began reaching into the machine and taking his money back out.

The business operator alleges that Pemberton then broke into three machines once he finished playing and took off.

When deputies responded to Pemberton’s home, officials say he would not come to the door. Search warrants were obtained and executed, and the suspect was located inside.

He is charged with Larceny, Break/Force Opening Coin Currency Operated Machine and Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute Controlled Substances Schedule VI.
