LINCOLNTON, NC — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says a woman has been charged with robbing a bank early Tuesday morning.
Diane Weeden, 56, of Denver, North Carolina is accused of robbing the People’s Bank on S. NC 16 Business Highway around 9:30am. Deputies say she handed a note to the teller saying she had a gun, but no gun was ever seen.
Weeden was taken into custody about 30 minutes after the robbery, deputies say, after being located near a vehicle parked behind a nearby Food Lion.
Officials say Weeden stole roughly $2,600 from the bank, which was recovered at the time of her arrest.
She is charged with one felony count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
