Man Accused Of Shooting Girlfriend Before Shooting Himself Charged After Being Released From Hospital

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  The man accused of shooting his girlfriend then shooting himself has been released from the hospital and is now facing serious charges.

The woman was shot on July 8th around 11:30 p.m., on Filson Court, near Rozelles Ferry Road in Charlotte.

The CMPD says officers found the woman who had been shot but the suspect had already left the scene.  Medic took the woman to the hospital.

Following an investigation, detectives obtained warrants for 59-year-old Reginald Simpson for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury.

Authorities say at about 1:30 a.m., Stanley Police officers responded to a call at the Bi-Lo on Highway 27, where they found Simpson with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Paramedics took Simpson to the CaroMont Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.  Officials say Simpson has now been released from the hospital and is in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
